Bedford Rides
Riding ability: (?)
Suitable for: non-riders families

"We were used to Bridle Rides so we were a bit nervous when we heard it had been taken over. We shouldn't have worried. You've kept all the good stuff and brought it up-to-date. We love the new guides and maps."- Jo Kent
The Bedford Rides network extends southwards from the area around the border between Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire. It is a great starter network for first time bridle riders because the terrain is gentle - but the predominantly grassy field margins are also great if you like fast riding! It has a very traditional, middle-England feel about it with rolling countryside and big fields and skies. It is predominantly an arable area, so the riding is something else with miles of long canters on wide verges. There are not many gates because there's hardly any livestock.
We can offer 2 to 5 day trail rides or a one-centre holiday with a choice of rides and the easy terrain also makes it good for mountain biking.
A 19 mile ride which takes you north east to Covington where you then follow the Three Shires Way through the villages of Spaldwick and Easton to Grafham Water, a site of special scientific Interest.

You ride round its western edge, with lovely lakeside views and mature woodland, before returning to Upper Dean via Stoneley and Pertenhall. The ride is quite fast, with gentle countryside and plenty of opportunities to canter.
