Dressage in Ribatejo

This four day, three night stay in one of Portugal's and indeed the world's best known studs for breeding Lusitano horses - Coudelaria Henrique Abecasis, will enable you to learn new skills from experienced and highly qualified dressage instructors.  The stud is located at the Quinta (farm) do Pilar in Aveiras de Baixo, an area commonly known as the valley of paradise because of its great beauty.  The forest area is made up of cork, pine, eucalyputs and olive trees, and the farm has a variety of land from pastureland to walnut groves.  The passion and knowledge of the people who work here will make this a holiday to remember.  

You will stay at the XIV century Quinta da Cerca which has a total of seven apartments, all tastefully decorated in traditional Portuguese style. You can enjoy hiking and mountain biking here and is a popular stay for riders and non-riders alike.

Day 1

Arrival at Lisbon Airport and transfer to the Coudelaria Henrique Abecasis stud, where you will enjoy a light lunch followed by your first dressage lesson.  You will be taken to your accommodation at Quinta da Cerca a XIV century farm at around 4pm.  Dinner at 7.30pm in a local restaurant.

Day 2

Breakfast and transfer to the stud for your second lesson followed by lunch and an afternoon lesson.  Again transfer to the Quinta at 4pm for some free time and then dinner at 7.30pm.

Day 3

Breakfast at the Quinta and transfer for your morning lesson at the stud.  Lunch then your afternoon lesson and a 4pm transfer back to your accommodation.  Again some free time followed by dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4

Breakfast and transfer for your final lesson at the stud.  You will then be taken back to Lisbon Airport for your return journey after a light lunch. 

2012 prices:  3 nights, 6 dressage lessons (1.5 hours each) £555  - per rider based on two sharing

Lessons: one-on-one tuition.  All equipment will be provided, but bring your own boots and trousers
